In corporate America, women and minorities are underrepresented at the management level and the wheels of change are turning too slowly. Research by LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company reveals it will take twenty-five years to reach gender parity at the senior-VP level and more than one hundred years in the C-suite. Research also shows this inequality is due to the fact that women and minorities face greater barriers to advancement and a steeper path to leadership than their white male counterparts. However, diversity is critical to the health and long-term success of an organization. It’s time organizational leaders made significant investments to influence company practices and culture in way that gives equal opportunity to all employees—regardless of their race or gender. Through a unique "influencer model," leaders can create a culture of inclusion and equality. By identifying vital behaviors of diversity and ensuring those behaviors are adopted through a comprehensive approach, leaders can reduce bias in their organization.
