Women are encouraged by their healthcare professionals to breastfeed for at least a year, if not longer. Many employed mothers will request accommodations for breastfeeding when they return to work. Having employer support in the workplace is a critical component to their success. It is also the law! The Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health has new tools available to support employers in complying with the law, giving practical solution for supporting a variety of difficult job settings. These resources feature California businesses and provide creative solutions to the laws requirement for appropriate space and break time.
