Brad is a pioneer in the field of Medical Tourism and International Insurance Billing and Collections where his company developed and led these programs for Hospital Clinica Biblica and its physicians in San Jose, Costa Rica between 1995 and 2011. Today Brad continues to run Segrupex, a Medical Billing company, and Medical Tours Costa Rica (MTCR), a medical tourism destinations management organization located on the ground in Costa Rica at Hospital Clinica Bibica and Hospital CIMA San Jose.
In 2006 Brad launched the Global Healthcare initiative for Hospital Clinica Biblica orchestrating an aggressive service oriented model that has helped position Hospital Clinica Biblica and Costa Rica as one of the region’s top destinations for medical travel.
His company, Medical Tours Costa Rica (MTCR), has coordinated medical services for over 3,500 medical tourism patients traveling from the US and Canada to Costa Rica. Today MTCR focuses primarily on the US Corporate market having coordinated surgical packages and concierge services for over 500 employees from US Self-Funded companies in North Carolina, Arkansas, Texas, Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Mississippi and California coming to Costa Rica for a variety of surgical procedures including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Bariatrics and Dental procedures. Some of these patients were featured on ABC World News and Nightline in September of 2013.
Born in Costa Rica of U.S. parents, Brad spent time in Brazil and the U.S. before finally settling down in Costa Rica. This unique tri-cultural background has allowed Brad to better understand the concerns and expectations of clients from many different cultural backgrounds. Brad is a recognized expert on the topic of Medical Tourism and International patient services having spoken and directed workshops at various Medical Tourism and Benefits conferences in the US and all over Latin America.
The success Mr. Cook has had developing the international patient program in Costa Rica has been viewed as a model for other countries, hospitals and medical tourism clusters in Latin America and the Caribbean where Brad has participated as a consultant and trainer in the development of their programs. Brad has been instrumental Brad is an Advisory Board Member for the Medical Tourism Association and founding member of Promed the Costa Rica cluster for the promotion of international medicine. Brad is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and lives in Costa Rica with his wife and three children.
