As President and Founder of Illuminate PMC, David Shar draws on a wealth of leadership experience, rigorous academic research, and a genuine passion for developing HR professionals and other organizational leaders. David is dedicated to helping his keynote and training participants build sustainably passionate, inclusive, and burnout-proof teams, making work, work better for everyone. Beyond his work with Illuminate, David is a proud adjunct professor and student mentor at the University of Maryland’s rigorous Industrial / Organizational Psychology Master’s Program. David holds his bachelor’s in human resource management and has the distinction of being a Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional. He holds his master's in industrial/organizational psychology and is a current doctoral candidate in business psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where he is researching the interaction between meaningful work, burnout, and the changing nature of employee passion for work. David resides in Baltimore, Maryland with his incredibly supportive wife, five (!) wise, stubborn, and hilarious children ranging from three to sixteen years of age, and their equally tenacious and goofy English Mastiff puppy named Groot.
