Description
We have heard about bullying and toxic work environments. What is it and
why is it important for HR professionals to recognize the signs of
organizational toxicity? Bullying behaviors have become synonymous with
organizational toxicity; however, bullying and other toxic work behaviors are
merely symptoms of larger problems within the organizational system. These
problems can infect an entire organization resulting in further dysfunctional
behavior, lowered productivity and services, and increased labor costs in the
form of absenteeism, turnover, worker stress, and lawsuits. It is more
important today that HR professionals understand how work environments can
stimulate toxic behaviors that range from backstabbing and gossiping to
bullying and violence. Dr. Deirdre Carlock, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, will explain the
organizational components that lead to a toxic work environment and offer
practical advice to help reduce the resulting toxic work behaviors. Time will
be allotted for a question and answer session.
