Jon R. Orozco, MBA, SHRM-SCP - Senior Executive Trainer & Chief Operating Officer
Jon Orozco is a highly skilled and experienced Chief People Officer, Principal HR Business Partner, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategist with a global reputation for excellence in the field. Hailing from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Jon has traveled the world. Jon grew up in Washington State, establishing his roots on a migrant farm when his grandfather brought his children from Mexico to work as farm laborers, including Jon as a baby. Jon attended a low-income high school, excelled academically, and rose through the officer ranks of the Air Force JROTC program with several national medals and state awards. Jon became a U.S. Citizen at age 17 and earned dozens of scholarships to attend the University of Puget Sound, where he studied business and history. Jon earned two master's degrees from Chapman University, the SHRM-SCP and IPMA-SCP designation. In addition, he speaks multiple languages, making him an asset to organizations seeking to expand their reach.
As a seasoned HR professional, Jon has extensive experience designing and implementing HR systems for growth and scaling, including HRIS integrations, compensation philosophies, employee training and development programs, and HR policies and procedures. He built a companywide DEI curriculum and employee engagement program for several Fortune 500 clients. He has served as COO and Chief HR Officer for several companies, including start-ups and mature growth companies. He is a trusted project principal for effective HR strategy and development projects.
A true futurist in his field, Jon is dedicated to developing and advancing the profession of People Operations, with a focus on preparing companies for a 2030 workforce. Through his work as a fractional Chief People Officer and HR Business Partner, Jon has helped hundreds of companies worldwide make meaningful progress in their diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and has facilitated difficult conversations around these important issues.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jon is also a lifetime learner and holds a wide range of degrees and certifications, including two bachelor's, three master's, and endless certifications, with a juris doctorate currently in progress. He also teaches and prepares other HR professionals to sit for the HRCI/SHRM exam and takes pride in delivering exceptional work promptly.
