Everything was different and she struggled communicating with her colleagues, even though she had taken 8 years of Spanish and even studied abroad. When she returned to the states, she knew she had a huge job to do: ensure that employees working in their 2nd language feel confident, prepared, culturally in tune and able to contribute. For the past 10 years, Micah and her team of language instructors have been researching 2nd language acquisition and using her trademarked Bellieu Method to change the way international colleagues communicate and assimilate. Her company, Fluency Corp, improves 2nd language communication at Fortune 500 companies like Intel and Google, and also at many smaller companies with language barriers. These barriers can cause cross-cultural friction, lost sales, miscommunication and loss of productivity. Her team works closely with executives and management to pinpoint the needs of the employees, and creates customized curriculum for every employee.
