Studies have found that for every 1% increase in the unemployment rate, suicides increase by 1%-1.6%. The Coronavirus pandemic has taken a serious economic toll on Americans. While the financial implications are easier to see and quantify, experts are just starting to grasp the magnitude that COVID has had on the mental health of American workers. Furthermore, events sparked by the murder of George Floyd have exacerbated the emotional state of employees and has brought critical questions about race in the workplace to the forefront.
We will highlight 3 unique perspectives: HR Executive, therapist and benefits consultant, to discuss the idea that effectiveness of business leaders addressing these issues can not only lead to higher levels of productivity in the workforce, but more importantly, it can help save lives through suicide prevention and substance abuse mitigation.
This webinar will cover the following:
- Understanding the data surrounding COVID’s impact on the mental health of employees
- How to approach mental health amidst uncertainty in the business environment
- Communication tips and resources available to HR professionals
