This presentation will address the most prevalent issues facing California employers as they work to navigate the impact of COVID-19 in the workplace alongside new developments in employment law in 2021.
For the foreseeable future, employers will need to make employment decisions against the backdrop of a global pandemic. The presentation will expand on how to integrate COVID-19 laws into the workplace. This includes everything from ending employment in cases where companies are forced to downsize, things to consider in setting up remote working conditions, and rehiring practices for companies reviving operations.
This presentation will highlight the various paid sick leave laws applicable to California employers on the local, state, and federal levels. will discuss the interplay between these laws and how they will affect employers and employees moving forward.
The presentation will also summarize major wage and hour laws that employers must comply with as of this year. This includes meal breaks, California’s Private Attorney’s General Act (PAGA) claims, and reimbursement of work expenses. The presentation will touch on significant cases that are shaping the area of employment law in 2021.
Finally, this presentation will provide guidance on how to comply with the DFEH’s new pay data reporting requirement. Presenters will walk participants through what data actually has to be reported, which employees must be included in the report, and best practices on how to gather the data.
